A former Disney employee downloaded a free AI tool from Github to his personal computer. Little did he know it would destroy his life😵💫.
Embedded in the AI tool’s files was a ☠️malware, which the hacker used to probe into the employee’s password manager. Months later, he received an unexpected message from a 👺stranger on Discord. It referenced a private conversation he had with other Disney coworkers. Later that day, another chilling message confirmed that he had been hacked. The next day, the hacker used the employee’s work credentials to perpetrate a massive data leak at Disney , dumping everything from private customer info to internal revenue numbers online. His personal info, including financial accounts, was caught in the mix. "1.1 terabytes of data, almost 10,000 channels, every message file possible, dumped," wrote Nullbulge, per a WSJ screenshot
The hacker gained such 💀extensive access through his password manager, 1Password, which the employee had failed to secure with ⚔️two-factor authentication.
